Gentullio (known as Tullio) Campagnolo, born in 1901, created the Campagnolo brand in the early 1920s. As early as 1930, he registered his first patent for the famous rod derailleur, and a little later for the quick-releases of bicycle wheels. The company is still based in Vicenza in northern Italy.
