Founded in 1890 in Japan, Miyata started out as a weapons manufacturer before turning to bicycles. A pioneer of the triple butted steel frame, the brand gained popularity with its racing and touring bikes in the 1970s and 1980s. Its models, renowned for their quality and durability, were exported all over the world, notably under the Koga-Miyata name in Europe.
