The French brand Atom, founded by Maurice Maillard, specialised in the manufacture of bicycle components, in particular hubs, pedals and freewheels, between the 1950s and 1980s. Its products were found on many mid-range French bicycles of the period. In 1980, Atom became part of Maillard, which was subsequently acquired by Sachs.
